Early summer events canceled in Pentwater.

PENTWATER — The Pentwater Chamber of Commerce has canceled several early summer events in the small community that thrives on tourism due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Pentwater Start of Summer Party, which is an outdoor street picnic downtown, has been canceled. The annual summer kick-off event was scheduled for Sunday, June 7.

Another popular summer event, the Community Wide Garage Sales, have been canceled. The garage sales throughout the town were scheduled for Saturday, June 13.

A third annual event that draws many visitors to town — the 18th Annual Spring Festival Arts & Crafts Fair — is also canceled. The fair was set for Saturday, June 20, at the Village Green.

The good news is that the Pentwater Farmer’s Market will proceed — but with new safety precautions — starting June 1 on the Village Green. The farmer’s market is every Monday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pentwater Village Green during the summer months.

Pentwater’s iconic summer event — Homecoming — remains on schedule for Aug. 13-16. Updates will be made on a “month-to-month basis,” according to the chamber.

Oceana County Water Safety Day hosted by the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office has been rescheduled to Saturday, July 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pentwater Municipal Marina. It was originally set for June 20.
