SHELBY TOWNSHIP — A male chihuahua was shot by a pellet gun Sunday afternoon, May 10, on Sessions Road, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The pellet was removed by the dog’s owner, and the animal appears to be OK. The pellet was partially lodged behind the dog’s ear.

The owner told police that his dog had been outside for a short period of time before it was shot.
