GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP — Hoping for a Mother’s Day Weekend reunion, police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a missing Bully Pitbull who is the mother of 11 4-week-old pups.

“They need their mother,” said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The dog, named Skye, and another dog were taken Wednesday, May 6, around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Maple Island and Skeels roads in Greenwood Township. A burgundy-colored car is believed to be involved. “They were picked up by a passing motorist,” Mast said. It is unknown if the dogs were purposely stolen or if someone was trying to do a good deed and help them, he said.

The other missing dog is a 4-month-old American pit bull wearing a blue collar. It’s a female named Dixie. Skye was not wearing a collar.

Skye’s owner is currently bottle feeding the puppies, said Mast.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 231-873-2121.
