HART — Hart High School’s graduation is set for Saturday, June 13, at 11 a.m. at the football stadium.

Superintendent Mark Platt made the announcement during a live forum on Facebook Wednesday evening, May 6.

Depending on what social distancing restrictions are in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, graduates may be limited to the number of guests in attendance, said Hart High School Principal Brandon Bruce. It’s possible graduates may be limited to bringing no more than two guests.

“We’re waiting to see what the restrictions will be,” Bruce said.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s extension of the Stay Home Stay Safe order continues through May 28. Due to the order, Hart’s original graduation date of Thursday, May 21, had to be pushed back.

If it rains on June 13, then graduation will be Sunday, June 14, at 2 p.m.

The commencement ceremony will be broadcast live, so people can watch it from home, Bruce said.

“We do believe we can honor any social restrictions — as far as people staying away from each other — quite easily out there,” Platt said.

Senior awards will be distributed at graduation, Platt said.
