COLFAX TOWNSHIP — Two men, ages 20 and 24, died in a head-on crash Monday, April 20, around 5:30 p.m. on 176th Avenue and Rossell Lake Road, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The men were northbound in a Honda Accord that was traveling “at a high-rate of speed,” Mast said. They hit a southbound Dodge Caravan driven by a woman approximately age 26, who was airlifted by Aeromed to a Grand Rapids hospital. The woman is in serious condition, Mast said.

Both vehicles ignited in fire upon impact. The men were both pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff said. They were on their way to work at Arbre Farms, he said.

Walkerville Area Fire and Rescue “gave an amazing effort to assist the victim who was trapped in the vehicle,” Mast said.

The area will remain closed to traffic for several hours as police investigate the scene.

More details will be provided when they are available.
