$1.4 million culvert replacement on Polk Road among MDOT projects.

HART — The Michigan Department of Transportation has planned a $1.4 million culvert replacement project on Polk Road near US 31 that is slated to begin Sept. 14, according to John Richard with MDOT’s Office of Communications.

The project is scheduled for completion Nov. 2. “This is located just east of the northbound off and on ramps,” Richard said.

During construction, Polk Road will be closed between the US 31 northbound ramps and Comfort Drive, according to MDOT. “Traffic will be detoured via US 31, Monroe Road, and Old US 31 (Oceana Drive). Access will always be maintained to homes and businesses.”

MDOT began another $1.4 million project in Hart. Pin and hanger replacement and full bridge painting on Oceana Drive over the Pentwater River by John Gurney Park is in progress, Richard said. The project is set for completion Aug. 10.

Hammett Road over US 31 near Pentwater will be improved with some rehab work, Richard said. The approximate $450,000 project is scheduled to begin July 7 and has an anticipated completion of early October. This project will be constructed under a detour.

The schedules for all of the projects may be subject to change due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Richard said.
