ROTHBURY — The Rothbury Village Council will hold a special meeting Thursday, April 9, at 6 p.m. to vote on a request from Electric Forest Festival producers to move the massive music festival from the end of June to mid-September in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting will be held outside the village hall “weather permitting,” states the village website.

“The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and act upon the request from Madison House for a change of dates for the Electric Forest Music Festival.”

Village Clerk Carol Witzke said Madison House is requesting changing the dates of the festival to Sept. 10-13. It is currently set for June 25-28.

“All attendees are asked to respect the social distancing requirements put in place by federal and state orders,” states the village website regarding tonight’s meeting.

The council approved a mass gathering permit for Electric Forest at the Double JJ Resort last November. The permit is a 10-year agreement between the village council and Madison House.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the enormous music festival that attracts at least 40,000 people each year from all over the US and other countries.
