Shelby updates meal pick-up sites.
SHELBY — Shelby Public Schools has been serving free, healthy “grab-and-go” meals for students since the statewide closure of school buildings began due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Food Service Director Mary Rose Vanas provided an updated listing of meal sites and times, which are the following:
- Oceana Acres, Baseline Road, Shelby: 9:30-10 a.m.
- Trinity Lutheran Church, West Stony Lake Road: 9:30-10 a.m.
- Lake Tahoe Community Center, New Era: 10:10-10:40 a.m.
- Shelby Middle School: 9:30-11 a.m.
- Barnett Station, Shelby: 9:15-9:45 a.m.
- Chapita Hills, Shelby: 9:47-10:30 a.m.
- Ferry Community Center: 9:30-10:30 a.m.
- The Ladder Community Center, Shelby: 10:45-11:30 a.m.
“Any student from any school district who can make it to a pick-up point may have food for free,” Vanas said. “This service is open to any family living in Oceana County — we welcome students from other districts.”
Food pick-up is Monday through Friday, and on Friday students receive three days of food to get through the weekend.
Children do not have to be present to get the food.
