Shelby residents asked to avoid ‘person-to-person’ contact at village hall.
SHELBY — Due to the coronavirus outbreak, village officials are asking residents to refrain from conducting “person-to-person” business at the village hall.
“There is no intention on our part to overreact to the Coronavirus (COVID-19),” states a press release from the village issued Friday, March 13. “However, it’s incumbent upon everyone to take the necessary actions to slow the transmission of this virus.
“Effective immediately and until further notice, we are asking that the general public refrain from conducting person-to-person business within the Shelby Village Hall that can otherwise be conducted via US Mail, the night drop-box or online at www.shelbyvillage.com/village-services. The night drop-box will be processed continually.
“Elderly and at-risk populations should avoid the Shelby Village Hall.
“Bills are still due as normal and staff will be available at the village hall, department of public works, and the police department during regular working hours. If you call the village hall at 231-861-4400, we can mail or email copies of bills and invoices if needed.
“Information regarding the virus can be found at the Oceana County Health Department’s website at www.dhd10.org/coronavirus. Any healthcare related questions should be directed to the Oceana County Health Department at 231-902-8525.”
