Shelby native nets 1,000 career points for Spring Arbor University.
SPRING ARBOR – Shelby native Jeff Beckman, who is a senior forward on Spring Arbor University Men’s Basketball Team, recently netted 1,000 career points for the Cougars.
Beckman became the 48th player in program history to hit the 1,000-point milestone. He is also one of only nine players in the 57-year history of SAU basketball to record 1,000 points and 800 rebounds.
He was also named to the 2020 Academic All-District Men’s Basketball Team.
Beckman has played in all 29 games this season while starting in 27, according to Spring Arbor University’s web site. He is averaging a career-best 10.2 points per game and shooting 58.9 percent from the floor, including a career-high 42.9 percent from 3-point range. He ranks among the Crossroads League leaders in rebounding, hauling in 7.1 rebounds per game.
A special education major, Beckman has been recognized as a two-time All-Crossroads League Honorable Mention selection, an NAIA Scholar-Athlete and maintains a 3.90 GPA.
