Shelby High School hosts band festival March 3, 4.

SHELBY — The Shelby bands recently performed their pre-festival concerts, Feb. 17, in preparation for their festival performances.

Both the High School Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the Middle School Cadet Band performed three pieces. These pieces will be graded by the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) judges, and the bands will receive a rating on their overall performance. This will also include sight reading music for their division rating. The bands are now using their remaining rehearsals to continue their preparation. The Cadet Band recently had a clinician, Amy Kool, to work with them on their repertoire.

Festival this year will be hosted at Shelby High School March 3 and 4. Shelby will perform Tuesday, March 3, with the middle school at 9 a.m. and the high school at 3:05 p.m.
