Optimists donate $1,000 to library.
HESPERIA — The Shelby Optimist Club recently awarded the Hesperia Community Library a $1,000 donation that will be used to help fund the summer reading and Imagination Library programs.
The national Imagination Library program founded by celebrity Dolly Parton helps develop reading skills for children under the age of 5.
“Parents who are residents of the Hesperia Community Library can register their children and receive free books each month by mail,” said Hesperia Community Library Director Jane Fryer.
“The programs at the Hesperia Community Library are provided through the generosity of organizations like the Shelby Optimist Club,” Fryer said.
