HART — Every year a new group of sixth graders comes into the band program and enters into the world of music to experience lessons that they may keep for life. In the fall, the students are introduced to common wind instruments such as trumpet, clarinet, trombone, flute and alto saxophone. After several months of learning those instruments, the students are offered a chance to switch to another instrument that will help enhance the sound of the band. Those instruments include tuba, bass clarinet, tenor saxophone, baritone, and French horn/mellophone. Only a few of the students will be selected by band director John Taranko.
In the video, Taranko (Mr. T) talks about the audition process.
