New Dollar General store to open in Hart.

GOLDEN TOWNSHIP – A new Dollar General store will open on Polk Road just outside the Hart city limits and west of the US 31 expressway this spring.

“We are excited to be under construction on a new Dollar General location in Hart, Michigan at 4940 West Polk Road,” said Mary Kathryn Colbert with Dollar General Public Relations. “The store will be approximately 9,000 square feet with a sales floor of about 7,200 square feet. The store is expected to open in spring 2020.”

The new location will not replace the Dollar General store currently in operation on State Street in Hart. “They will operate simultaneously,” Colbert said.

The new store will bring approximately 6-10 jobs to the area. Interested applicants should visit www.dollargeneral.com/careers.

“Our customers are at the center of all that we do, and meeting customers’ needs is Dollar General’s top priority when choosing store locations,” Colbert said. “The company looks for places where we can offer customers an easy and convenient shopping choice as we generally serve customers within a three to five mile radius, or 10-minute drive. We also take competitive factors, traffic patterns and community concerns into consideration.”

“Dollar General is deeply involved in the communities it serves and is an ardent supporter of literacy and education through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, which awards grants each year to nonprofit organizations, schools and libraries within a 20-mile radius of a Dollar General store or distribution center to support adult, family, summer and youth literacy programs,” she added.
