HART — Nostalgia will rule Winterfest Saturday, Feb. 1, as antique, vintage, and classic snowmobiles assemble downtown from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Participation in the event is free, said organizer Kevin Hallack. Registration beings at 9 a.m.

“We will be featuring Rupp snowmobiles this year,” Hallack said. “We have trophies available based on people’s choice voting in six categories — five categories based on year and one category for customized sleds. The five classes based on year include: 1969 and older; 1970-74; 1975-79; 1980-89; and 1990-2000. “We will have a panel of judges that will vote on best original and best restored Rupp snowmobile.

“We will have a DJ downtown providing music throughout the show,” he said.

If anyone would like more information about the antique snowmobile show, they should call Hallack at 231-923-9279.

This year, Winterfest will not include activities it has in the past, such as the popular broom ball tournament, because the Hart Main Street program is in transition, said Interim Director Christine Rickard.

“With Hart Main Street in transition, volunteers were limited this year,” Rickard said.

Although, the organization is helping with Winterfest by working to get downtown businesses involved and providing volunteers, she said. Next year’s event may possibly take place at the Oceana County Fairgrounds.
