Shelby hosts honors band performance.
SHELBY — Shelby High School hosted the District 1 Junior High Honors Band Jan. 7.
“The students in this group all received a first division rating at Chippewa Hills and were invited to perform with multiple schools and with engaging repertoire,” said Shelby Assistant Band Director Erin Ray.
“The event was incredibly successful, and there were a total of 125 middle school students who attended,” said Ray.
Students from District 1 were separated into two bands with directors Rob Finn and Dan Meyers. They rehearsed for the whole school day and into the evening with their concert at 7 p.m. Schools included Shelby, Hart, Pentwater, Manistee Catholic Central, White Cloud, Reed City, Big Rapids Crossroads, Pine River, Evart, Brethren, Big Rapids, Manistee, Chippewa Hills, Cadillac, Hesperia, Mesick and Lake City.
“Shelby was grateful to host and appreciative to the directors and Shelby staff who contributed to the final performance,” Ray said.
