HART – The 63-year-old Colfax Township man who was arrested after allegedly stabbing his 61-year-old wife in the hand with a large kitchen knife last week in their home near Ruby Creek was arraigned in 78th District Court.
Elwell Thomas McFadden, of 8777 E. Ruth Rd., faces a charge of felonious assault.
“The wife was arrested in November in Mason County for drunk driving, which caused issues at home with her husband,” said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast. An argument ensued over her recent arrest.
The woman was stabbed in between her thumb and index finger on her left hand.
McFadden also suffered a few cuts to his hands after his wife gained control of the knife at one point.
Alcohol was a factor in the incident, Mast said.
McFadden was arrested by deputies and lodged in the Oceana County Jail. His bond was set at $5,000/cash/surety/10 percent.
A preliminary conference in district court is set for Dec. 16 at 3 p.m., and a preliminary exam is scheduled for Dec. 23 at 3 p.m.
