SHELBY – The old saying, “‘Tis better to give than to receive,” rings true this holiday season as Peterson Farms hosts a food drive benefiting both the givers and the receivers.

“The food bank drive will be ran by Peterson Farms employees volunteering their time on Thursday, Dec. 12, from 4-7 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9-11 a.m., said Peterson Farms Procurement Manager Tracy Blamer. “During the food drive, we are giving away four pounds of locally-grown fruit to our fellow residents in Oceana County in exchange for a minimum of one non-perishable item.”

“There will be a tent set up at our Oceana County freezer location just off US 31 where volunteers will distribute fruit, collect donations and hand out warm cider and donuts to our friends and neighbors.

“All proceeds will benefit our local food banks within Oceana County,” Blamer said.
