HART – A 28-year-old Ludington man faces prison for a felony charge of first-degree home invasion, and his case is set for trial in 27th Circuit Court in December.

Joshua Mark Bassett-Lynch, of 5813 Irons Rd., (court records indicate that Bassett-Lynch is from Ludington but Irons Road does not exist in Mason County) also faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery in 78th District Court.

Bassett-Lynch appeared in court Monday, Sept. 23, with his attorney Timothy Hayes for a pretrial hearing. Hayes said the case may be resolved prior to going to trial.

Oceana County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Chad DeRouin said he offered a 30-month minimum prison term. Sentencing guidelines in the case are 30-50 months, DeRouin said.

The trial is scheduled for Dec. 11 and 12, and a final pretrial is set for Dec. 2.

“The district court events are all part of the same 15-minute span,” said Hayes of time frame of the incident that led to Bassett-Lynch’s charges. He was arrested by the Hart Police Department, according to his court file.
