Retired school personnel donate to Shelby Schools art program.

SHELBY — The Oceana County Chapter of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel presented a check for $300 towards the art program at Shelby High School. Superintendent Tim Reeves received the check from Chris VanAntwerp, who selected the recipient of the June award after winning a drawing at the meeting. VanAntwerp himself was an art teacher, retiring after a 32-year career from Kelloggsville Middle School in Kentwood, where Superintendent Reeves once served as his principal. Also shown is art teacher Erin Ray.

The money will go to buy supplies to bolster the Shelby High School’s art program. The Oceana Retired School Personnel includes people retired from many school districts, including Oceana County districts. It supports Oceana County Schools and students with their regular donations.
