HART – A 41-year-old Hart woman pleaded “no contest” to attempted felonious assault in 27th Circuit Court Monday, Sept. 9.

Doris Liz Figueroa, of 4164 N. 120th Ave., faces a jail term that will not exceed three months. Figueroa initially faced a felony charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, which was dismissed when she pleaded to the lesser charge.

The court will sentence her in the midpoint of 30 days to three months, said Bizon. However, the prosecutor is recommending three months.

The incident occurred April 8 in Elbridge Township, according to Figueroa’s testimony. A female victim was not injured.

“It has been an ongoing conflict between the defendant and the other party,” said Bizon. The victim is Figueroa’s neighbor, he said. “It is alleged a knife was used, but it was never found.”

The maximum penalty for attempted felonious assault is two years.

Sentencing is set for Dec. 2 at 9 a.m.
