HART – The following were sentenced recently in 78th District Court:
– Arleigha Joanne-Workman Zimmer, 33, of 7818 Gale Rd., Hesperia, was found guilty Aug. 5 of larceny less than $200 and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail; $331 in restitution; and $456 in fines and costs. One count of embezzlement $200-$1,000 was dismissed.
– Jorge Luis Cruz, 32, of 211 Wood St., Hart, was found guilty Aug. 5 of operating while impaired and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; 93 days discretionary jail; outpatient treatment; and $1,140 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS). One count of operating while intoxicated was dismissed.
– Jeffrey Daniel Lotz, 22, of 821 E. Garfield Rd., Hesperia, was found guilty July 8 of operating while impaired and was sentenced Aug. 5 to 93 days discretionary jail; Alcohol Highway Safety Education (AHSE); and $1,105 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
– Kala Marie Lipski, 27, of 5182 N. 72nd Ave., Hart, was found guilty Aug. 5 of operating while impaired and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; 93 days discretionary jail; and $1,140 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of operating with a high blood alcohol content (BAC) was dismissed.
– Paul Madison Phillips, 34, of 8088 N. 126th Ave., Hart, was found guilty Aug. 7 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail and $290 in fines and costs. One count of second-offense driving while license suspended (DWLS) was dismissed.
– Jason William McFarland, 36, of 3193 Skeels Rd., Holton, was found guilty Aug. 6 of driving while license not valid and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail and $300 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
– Carl Wayne Zmrzlik, 42, of 6063 E. 28th St., White Cloud, was found guilty Aug. 6 of DWLS and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail and $400 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
– Joseph Wayne Hawkins, 35, of 7942 W. Hazel Rd., Mears, pleaded “no contest” to disorderly person – drunk and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; 90 days discretionary jail; no contact with the victim; and $400 in fines and costs. One count of domestic violence was dismissed.
– Sonya Jean Watson, 37, of 8670 Maple Island Rd., Holton, was found guilty Aug. 5 of failure to report an accident and was sentenced to four days in jail with credit for four days served; 90 days discretionary jail; and $400 in fines and costs. One count of failure to report and accident was dismissed.
– Michael Baker Harris, 28, of 3187 N. Comstock Ave., Hesperia, was found guilty Aug. 5 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; 90 days discretionary jail; and $290 in fines and costs. One count of DWLS was dismissed.
– Brandi Jo Juska, 40, of 713 Danaher St., Ludington, was found guilty Aug. 5 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail and $300 in fines and costs. One count of operating without insurance was dismissed.
– Arturo Ysabel-G Lopez, 35, of 2280 Ferry St., Shelby, was found guilty Aug. 5 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail and $300 in fines and costs. One count of operating an unregistered vehicle was dismissed.
Dismissals
– David Joseph Wilson, no date of birth or address listed, one count of domestic violence was dismissed Aug. 6. “Victim moved out of state shortly after the incident,” court records state. “Victim is unwilling/unable to come back to Michigan to testify against the defendant.”
– Amanda Ruth Davis, no date of birth or address listed, one count of operating without security was dismissed Aug. 5. “Defendant was the driver, but was not the registered owner,” court records state. “Defendant was not aware that the insurance policy for the motor vehicle was canceled. At pretrial, the defendant provided proof of valid insurance.”
– Michell Lynn Highland, no date of birth or address listed, one count of expired license was dismissed Aug. 5. “Defendant renewed her license the after being cited for the offense. It is not in the interest of justice to move forward with this matter.”
– Todd Allen Velheer, no date of birth or address listed, one count of improper plate dismissed Aug. 5. “After reviewing the SOS website regarding the use of historical plates, it’s unclear whether the defendant was in violation.”
– Marisela Lugo-Gonzalez, no date of birth or address listed, two counts of dog running at large were dismissed Aug. 5. “Defendant was educated about Michigan’s dog-at-large laws. Defendant agreed to keep her dogs leashed when not on her property.”
– Keagan Christopher Sage, no date of birth or address listed, one count of possession with intent to deliver marijuana was dismissed Aug. 6. “Changes in marijuana law render the prosecution of this matter an unnecessary expenditure of resources.”
