Driver falls asleep at the wheel, crashes into trees.

ROTHBURY –– A 21-year-old Montague man avoided serious injury after he fell asleep at the wheel of a 2012 Chevrolet Cruz Tuesday, Aug. 13, shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Winston Road near Water Road, according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

The eastbound car went off the road, hitting several trees, which landed on the car’s roof, according to the report.

The driver suffered only minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital. He was wearing a seatbelt, and drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash, according to the report.
