FERRY — The quiet community of Ferry comes alive Saturday, July 27, during its unique annual summer celebration, Ferry Ghost Town Day.

One of the highlight events during the festivities is the Greased Pig Contest at 10 a.m. The contest is for children up to age 10, and they must sign up at 9 a.m.

The craft and flea market begins at 9 a.m. and will offer food booths all day. A kiddy tractor pull for children up to age 8 begins at 11 a.m., and participants must sign up one hour prior.

The parade begins at 1 p.m., and entrants must line up between noon and 12:45 p.m.

A good-old fashioned sack race begins at 2 p.m., followed by an egg toss at 3 p.m. Both events are for all ages.

A corn hole tournament begins at 2 p.m., and participants must sign up by noon.

Ferry Wesleyan Church will offer carnival games and also have a free clothing table.

Chicken drop squares go on sale at 9 a.m. The game is similar to a football pool. A chicken is placed onto the squares, and where it “does its business,” that ticket wins.

Karaoke will go from 2-5 p.m. A kayak race on the White River begins at 3 p.m. at Mill Pond Park. Racers must sign up at 2 p.m., and kayaks and paddles will be provided.

Enjoy a pork dinner from 5-7 p.m. at the Ferry Community Center. The cost is $1 for children ages 3 and younger; $3 for kids ages 4-10; and $7 for ages 11 and older.

The door prize drawing is from 7-8 p.m., and there will be a street dance with music by Yesterday’s Wine from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Ghost Town organizers prohibit inline skates, Heelies, bikes or skateboards during the festivities. They also ask that attendees do not bring pets. Horses are only allowed during the parade.
