Obituary: Alyce Flowers, 92, Pentwater.
Alyce Joyce Flowers, 92, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at her home in Pentwater.
Alyce was born on February 11, 1927 in Ludington, the daughter of Lloyd and Ila (Schmiedeknecht) Marrison. She graduated from Pentwater High School in 1944 and attended Muskegon Community College. Alyce worked for Witte’s Grocery Store for many years, and later Harold Shaw Real Estate Agency. When her husband, Marvin “Bob” Flowers, passed away in 1989, she decided to retire and spend more time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alyce was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church Guild and Vestry, the Pentwater Garden Club, and the Pentwater Township Board of Review.
Alyce loved to sew. She grew beautiful gardens and would read anything she could get her hands on. Alyce was a loved and cherished friend. She raised her children to be independent and kind.
Alyce is survived by her daughter Melinda McMillin; son-in-law, James Conkle; grandchildren, Melissa “Lisa” (Roger) Wiegand and James (Tonya) Curtis; great-grandchildren, Ashleigh (Luke Hooker) Wiegand, Andrew Wiegand, and Noah Curtis; and siblings, Lloyd “Bud” Marrison, John (Betty) Marrison, and Geraldine Goodnight; special family friends, Jim and LaVonne Curtis; and her constant companion, Tessie.
Alyce was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Ila Marrison; husband, Bob Flowers; daughter, Barbara Jean Conkle; and sister, Ruth Peterson.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Pentwater Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Crystal Valley Care Fund or Oceana County Animal Friends.
