HART – A 56-year-old Branch man will undergo psychiatric testing for a methamphetamine possession case pending in 27th Circuit Court.

Larry James Adams, of 2945 S. Granstyn Trail, suffered a head injury after being hit with a chainsaw, said his attorney Terry Shaw Monday, June 17, during a motion hearing. “He’s been in mental institutions many times,” Shaw said.

Judge Robert D. Springstead granted Shaw’s motion for a mental competency exam at Center for Forensic Psychiatry near Ypsilanti. The exam will determine whether Adams is competent to stand trial.
