Police week ceremony Friday.

HART – In honor of National Police Week, Oceana police officers will gather for a memorial service Friday, May 17, at noon on the courthouse lawn.

Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast will provide the introduction, followed by the opening prayer by the Rev. Dan Barnum-Steggerda of the Hart and Shelby United Church of Christ.

Color Guard will be performed by Andrew Carter and Reed Schulz of Boy Scout Troop 1155.

Guest Speaker will be State Rep. Scott VanSingel (R-Grant) of the 100th District. The Policeman’s Prayer will be read by the Hon. Bradley Lambrix of the Oceana County Probate Court.

The Laying of the Wreath will be done by Sgt. Kevin Skipski the Hart Police Department. Rev. Dan Barnum-Steggerda will then offer the closing prayer, followed by the playing of “Taps” by Cherie Hockenbuerger on bag pipes.

A light picnic lunch on the sheriff’s office lawn will follow.
