PENTWATER – The Pentwater Service Club (PSC) has awarded scholarships to six Pentwater students to attend Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and Interlochen Arts Camp this summer.

Scholarship recipients are Daria Reitsma, Hanna Hartline, Nathan Macher, Aubrey MacIntosh, Johnathon VanDuinen and Mackenzie Breitner.

The club has bestowed more than $20,000 in arts scholarships since 1997 when the club first began awarding them to honor Palmer Veen, longtime Pentwater band director from 1965-1996. Five students will use their scholarships to attend Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and one will attend Interlochen Fine Arts Camp.

“The Pentwater Service Club supports arts education and believes the arts endure from generation to generation and that arts in general represent a well-rounded-education for participants,” said Brian Fillion, who manages the program for the PSC. “We’re especially proud of this year’s class of campers and the hard work that has gotten them this far,” Fillion said.

The Pentwater Service Club is an organization of volunteers that strives through its many projects to improve the quality of life for the people of the Pentwater area. Those interested in the PSC should visit the club’s website at www.serviceclub.org or its Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/Pentwater-Service-Club-284536781720382. Interested persons can also attend one of the club’s meetings, which are Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. at the Pentwater School Library.
