Janice Walsworth named asparagus parade grand marshal.
HART – Janice Walsworth was recently named the grand marshal for the National Asparagus Festival Joan Glover Royale Parade.
NAF is set for June 7-9, and the parade is Saturday, June 8, at 2 p.m. in Hart.
NAF is the longest-running asparagus festival in the country, and this year marks its 46th year.
Janice is a life-long Oceana County resident and graduated from Hart High School in 1984. Receiving an associate’s degree from Baker College, Janice worked as a legal secretary for Warner, Norcross & Judd in Muskegon and then for Doug Springstead in Hart.
She has three grown children, Jordan (wife Sarah), Haley and Anna and one grandson, Henry.
Janice serves as the office manager on the family farm, Golden Stock Farms in Mears and wants people to know that the farm has grown into what it is today “because of the hard work and dedication that (her late husband) Ryan put into it.” She is “very proud of him for that” and hopes that along with her son Jordan, who has returned to run the farm, they “can continue to grow and farm with Ryan’s integrity.”
