HART – A 37-year-old Walkerville man faces serving up to five months in jail after pleading guilty in 27th Circuit Court Monday, April 15, to a felony of forgery.
Bobby Jo Scheel, of 10283 Dickinson Ave., testified that he forged a check totaling $220 after finding it lying in the road last January in Grant Township.
In exchange for his guilty plea, Scheel’s jail time will be capped at five months, said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon.
Sentencing guidelines in the case are five to 23 months, and a forgery conviction is punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
Sentencing is set for June 10 at 9 a.m.
