HART – The felony theft case against a 30-year-old Pentwater man is headed to trial in 27th Circuit Court.
Branden Lee Bryant, of 6703 S. Lorne Dr., was arrested by the Pentwater Police Department for a felony of larceny in a building and second-offense habitual offender.
Bryant allegedly stole electrodes that are used for making wire from his former employer, Pentwater Wire Products, said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon. The value of the stolen items is $250, Bizon said.
On Monday, March 25, the prosecutor offered a five-month jail cap if Bryant pleaded guilty to the larceny charge. The habitual offender charge would have been dismissed. Bryant rejected the offer.
Bryant has a previous conviction of larceny in a building, Bizon said.
Sentencing guidelines in the case are 0-9 months.
A trial date has not yet been scheduled.
