HART – The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam in which a resident almost lost $10,000.
“We recently had a resident receive a call indicating that their loved one was in jail and was asking for money,” states a post Tuesday, March 19, the OCSO Facebook page. “An amount of $10,000 was in the process of being sent when it was discovered this was not true.
“Please inform your friends, family and neighbors – do not send money, gift cards, cashier’s checks, etc. to anyone.”
