OCEANA COUNTY – Oceana County and several other Michigan counties will be under a winter weather advisory beginning Monday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. until Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 1 a.m.

In addition to Oceana, the advisory issued by the National Weather Service Sunday afternoon includes Mason, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Newaygo, Mecosta, Isabella, Muskegon, Montcalm, Gratiot, Ottawa and Kent counties.

Mixed precipitation is expected, with total snow accumulations of 5-7 inches and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch. Winds could be gusting as high as 35 mph.

“Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility,” states NWS.

“A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.”
