Contact Red Cross to help fire victims.
HART – The American Red Cross of West Michigan is advising residents who want to help the 11 victims of the Bill Wells’ “602 House” fire Tuesday morning, Feb. 5, to contact its Muskegon and Ludington offices.
Those wishing to provide assistance should call (231) 726-3555 and select option #3, said Executive Director of the American Red Cross of West Michigan Tiffany Page. The number reaches both the Muskegon and Ludington offices. After selecting option #3, the caller will hear a greeting that if you’ve experienced a fire or disaster, please leave a message. This is an inbox for callers wishing to help fire victims as well, Page explained. Callers should leave their name and phone number and specify that they are calling to help the victims of the Feb. 5 fire in Hart.
“Long-term stuff is needed,” Page said, and clothing is not. “People get inundated with clothes.
“The Red Cross responded to the fire and found temporary housing and temporary financial assistance for the fire victims,” Page said. “The focus is long-term recovery needs.”
For those who would like to help the community as a whole, they should consider volunteering for the Red Cross. Red Cross volunteers are needed in Oceana County, Page said. Either visit redcross.org or call 231-726-3555 and select option #5 to get started.
