Southbound US 31 closed at White Lake Drive.
UPDATE: The highway was re-opened at 4:40 p.m., according the the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office.
MUSKEGON COUNTY – A serious crash has caused the shutdown of southbound US 31 in northern Muskegon County Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 29.
The freeway was shut down at White Lake Drive around 2:30 p.m. following a report of a pedestrian struck, possibly suffering fatal injuries. The crash was reported near Riley-Thompson Road.
Driving conditions on US 31 are extremely dangerous with whiteouts. Both directions of I-96 in Muskegon and Ottawa counties, between Nunica and Marne, were also closed Tuesday after several crashes were reported.
