Winter weather advisory issued for Oceana County.
OCEANA COUNTY – The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a winter weather advisory for several West Michigan counties, including Oceana.
The advisory is in effect Friday, Nov. 9, at 1 a.m. until Saturday, Nov. 10, at 7 a.m.
Snow accumulations of 3-5 inches are expected, along with winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
Other counties included in the advisory are Mason, Lake, Newaygo, Muskegon, Ottawa, Kent, Allegan, Barry, Van Buren, Kalamazoo and Calhoun.
The advisory went into effect shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday.
“One round of snow arrives during the Friday morning commute with temperatures near or just below freezing,” states NWS. “A break in the impacts looks possible during the day on Friday as temperatures climb slightly above freezing. A stronger burst of snow, combined with powerful winds and falling temperatures, is forecasted for Friday night into Saturday morning.”
“A winter weather advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow-covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.”
