HART — A 50-year-old Grand Rapids man was sentenced to 63 days in jail, with credit for 63 days served, and ordered to pay back $5,327 for stealing his mother’s supplemental security income (SSI) checks.
Russell Richard Peterson, of 3789 Timberlee Ave. NW, pleaded “no contest” to larceny by conversion $1,000-$20,000 in 27th Circuit Court last September.
Sentencing guidelines in the case are 0-9 months, said Judge Robert D. Springstead, and the plea agreement called for a cap on his jail of 90 days.
The thefts occurred from late 2016 to early 2018 in Oceana County, said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon.
Springstead also ordered 18 months probation.
