SHELBY – For the last 19 years, the community has worked together to provide a delicious Thanksgiving Day dinner for nearly 200 people who are need or may not have a family dinner to attend.

The public is invited to this year’s feast Thursday, Nov. 22, from noon to 2 p.m. in the Shelby Optimist Club building on Industrial Drive.

An army of volunteers from local churches, business people and the community prepare a traditional meal with all the trimmings. All are welcome to attend. There is no cost, but donations are accepted.

“All are welcome to join in our community celebration of Thanksgiving, as across the nation, people will gather with family and friends and acknowledge God’s goodness and blessings in our lives,” said co-chair MaryAnn Carey.

“Many local businesses, churches and community volunteers have provided the time, talent and treasure needed to make the meal possible for the last 19 years. We have had the privilege each year of serving 180-200 people who may be alone or unable to prepare a traditional meal for themselves.”

For more information or to volunteer to set-up, clean or volunteer during the meal, call 231-861-2390 or 231-861-5320.
