Administrator credits DPW’s quick response for containing spill.
SHELBY – Village Administrator Robert Widigan credits the village DPW team for quickly containing Friday’s sewage spill caused by a power outage at a lift station on Industrial Drive.
“On Friday, Sept. 21, 2018 around 4:15 p.m. there was a power outage (reason unknown at this time) on Industrial Drive (near Valley City Metal) which caused an overflow at the lift station from approximately 4:30-5:15 p.m.,” states Widigan in an email message.
“The alarm system notified our DPW Supervisor Greg MacIntosh right away via phone call, and he immediately responded to address the situation. The spill happened after working hours, thus why he was out of the village at the time. Thanks to the crew’s quick response, all the wastewater was contained by the dyke.”
