Seeking CASA volunteers.

HART – Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Oceana is recruiting volunteers for training this fall.

CASA volunteers are assigned by the judge to represent the best interest of children in abuse and neglect court proceedings.

The CASA volunteer visits with the child regularly, gathers information and background on their case; prepares written reports for the court; and attends hearings until the case is resolved. CASA volunteers are a constant for children in a time of chaos. A child may have multiple social workers, foster care placements, therapists, and teachers throughout the life of the case but only one CASA volunteer.

Volunteers must be 21 years of age or older; pass background checks; complete 30 hours of training; and have reliable transportation.
