Walkerville man injured in car/deer crash.
NEWFIELD TOWNSHIP — A 68-year-old Walkerville man was injured when a deer ran out in front of his 2002 Chevrolet Suburban Tuesday, Sept. 4, shortly before 8:30 p.m. on South 192nd Avenue near Baker Road, according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.
“He was northbound and unable to avoid a deer jumping into the roadway,” the report states. Upon impact, the driver’s side mirror of the Suburban broke off and hit the man in the face, causing injury.
The man sought treatment at Mercy Health Partners Lakeshore Campus in Shelby. He was wearing a seat belt.
