Fire destroys Hart house; 2 firefighters injured.

HART — Fire destroyed a house near Hart Lake Thursday afternoon. Hart Fire Department Chief Jack White said the back of the house, and its deck were completely engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on scene. Within minutes, the entire house was on fire, White said. “People were saying they could see the smoke from Shelby and Walkerville,” White said.

The house was located on Hill-N-Dale Drive near Lake Harbor Drive near Hart Lake. White said the homeowner was outside mowing his lawn when the fire started. One firefighter suffered from second degree burns to his face while another was transported to the hospital with a knee injury.

The fire occurred about 3 p.m. and fire crews were still on scene at 6:30 p.m.

Hart Fire Department was assisted by Shelby-Benona Fire Department, Pentwater Fire Department, Walkerville Fire Department, and Crystal Valley Fire Department.
