PENTWATER — Power is expected to be restored in the village by 2 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, in the wake of Tuesday evening’s violent storm, said Oceana County Emergency Management Coordinator James Duram.

The entire village has been without power since the massive thunderstorm ripped down trees and power lines, causing major damage.

“Consumer’s Energy has been working feverishly with the tree companies to get the power back on,” Duram said. “Power will be back on for the majority of folks.”

Pentwater, which thrives on summer tourism, is gearing up for Labor Day weekend, and downtown businesses have been closed since the violent storm.

The storage trailer for the concession stand at Pentwater’s Charles Mears State Park on Lake Michigan was smashed by a falling tree.
