HART — A 31-year-old Minnesota man pleaded guilty in 27th Circuit Court Monday, Aug. 27, to unlawful driving away of an automobile or car theft.
Chad Thomas Shelso was arrested last month after stealing a vehicle in the Village of Pentwater. The vehicle’s owner had lost the keys to it, previously stated Pentwater Police Chief Laude Hartrum.
A misdemeanor of defrauding an innkeeper was dismissed, but restitution will be ordered, said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon.
“He ran up a tab a local establishment and didn’t pay for it,” Bizon said.
Shelso will receive a sentence of time served. “He’s been in jail for a while,” the prosecutor said.
Sentencing is set for Oct. 22 at 9 a.m.
