HART — A 46-year-old Hesperia man faces a mandatory 25-year minimum prison term after pleading “no contest” to first-degree criminal sexual conduct Monday, Aug. 27, in 27th Circuit Court.
The charge against Edward Allen Dawkins, of 8366 E. M 20, involves “penetration of a child less than 13 years old,” said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon. The victim in the case was a 4-year-old girl, Bizon said.
In addition to his statutory sentence of 25 years to life, Dawkins will be subject to lifetime electronic monitoring and sex offender registration.
Dawkins was formally arraigned in 78th District Court last month following his arrest by the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office.
Sentencing is set for Oct. 22 at 9 a.m.
He remains lodged in the Oceana County Jail on a $100,000/cash/surety bond.
