HART — Oceana County Clerk Rebecca Griffin was named “County Clerk of the Year” during the Michigan Association of County Clerks (MACC) Annual Conference in Traverse City Tuesday evening, Aug. 21.

Secretary of State Ruth Johnson and Mecosta County Clerk Marcee Purcell presented Griffin with the award, stating, “Becky has worked for Oceana County for 29 years, with that last 16 years being the county clerk. She has had excellent attendance at all MACC and United County Officers Association (UCOA) meetings.

“Becky has been the treasurer for the MACC for the past six years and has made it her priority to account for every nickel and dime taken in and spent by the association. She has devoted much time and effort in making the association financially stronger. And, membership wise with a record effort of all 83 counties in the state paying their dues for 2018.”

“I am very honored and grateful to have been awarded ‘County Clerk of the Year,'” Griffin said. “Being a member of MACC and UCOA is enjoyable and rewarding … and busy! I have come to know so many county clerks throughout Michigan, many of whom have become very special friends.”
