HART — The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office responded to two vehicle crashes Wednesday, July 25, that resulted in minor injuries.
A 29-year-old Hart woman received minor injuries in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday at 5:37 a.m. on East Madison Road near North 140th Avenue in Crystal Township.
The woman told police she was “trying to avoid a deer and lost control of her vehicle,” states the accident report. The 1996 Chrysler Sebring she was driving went off the road and hit a tree.
The woman, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not hospitalized, the report states.
A second crash occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on Oceana Drive near Lever Road in Hart Township.
A 2012 GMC Terrain driven by a 35-year-old Saint Joseph, Michigan woman was northbound on Oceana Drive following a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 54-year-old woman from Sand Lake, Michigan, according to the accident report. The two vehicles were headed to the same place, the report states.
As the Equinox slowed to a stop to make a left turn on Lever Road, it was rear-ended by the Terrain. The Terrain driver “did not see this and was looking for the final destination for both vehicles,” the report states. The Terrain “slammed into the rear of (the Equinox) causing that vehicle to go off the road to the left.”
Riding in the Terrain was a 35-year-old Sparta woman who was not injured. The driver received minor injuries and did not require hospitalization. Both women were wearing their seatbelts.
No one in the Equinox, which was transporting two passengers, was injured. Passengers were a 56-year-old woman and a 69-year-old woman, both from Sand Lake. They were wearing seatbelts.
