HART — A crash last Friday afternoon, July 20, on Polk Road in front of Hansen Foods grocery store sent several people to the hospital, and a 24-year-old Hart man remains hospitalized with a leg injury said Hart Police Chief Juan Salazar Thursday, July 26.
An 85-year-old Walkerville woman driving a 2005 Chevrolet Impala was cited for failure to yield after she pulled out in front of a westbound 2005 Ford Explorer, Salazar said. The 24-year-old man was pinned under the right rear tire of the Explorer after being ejected from it. The Explorer rolled several times, he said.
The man was not wearing a seatbelt, but the other occupants of the Explorer were, the chief said.
He was transported by Oceana County EMS to Mercy Health Partners Hackley Campus in Muskegon for an injury to the right thigh/hip area, he said. Other people in the Explorer were transported either to MHP’s Hackley or Shelby campus. They were wearing seatbelts, the chief said.
The woman driving the Impala was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt. She was the lone occupant of the car.
Also responding to the scene were the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, the Hart post of the Michigan State Police and the Hart Area Fire Department.
