GRANT TOWNSHIP — The pipe bomb found inside an abandoned vehicle that had been impounded at Gundy’s Garage, at 8832 S. Oceana Drive Wednesday morning, June 27, was quickly diffused, and there are no suspects, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The bomb had no connection to the massive Electric Forest Festival in nearby Rothbury, Mast said.

Detectives from the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case, and the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad diffused the pipe bomb, Mast said. Grant Township Fire Department was also dispatched to the scene.

Mast said the pipe bomb was found inside a vehicle that had been impounded last winter. It had gone through the abandonment process, and the impound company had taken over ownership, he said.

Because the vehicle had changed ownership so many times, a suspect cannot be traced. The case is closed.
