Obituary: Patricia Volz, 93, Pentwater.
Patricia Elaine Volz (née Pullen) died peacefully at Sutter Living Center, Oakview Medical Care Facility in Ludington on Friday, February 23, 2018 at the age of 93. Patricia was born on October 17, 1924 in Grand Rapids to C. Leslie and Clara Pullen and graduated from South High School in Grand Rapids in 1942. Following High School, she attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago where she received a Diploma in 1947. She graduated from Nurses Training at Swedish Covenant Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago in 1950 where she was President of her class. She also attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill., graduating with a bachelor of science degree in 1954, and later attended Northern Illinois University in De Kalb, Ill., where she graduated with a master of science degree in 1971.
Patricia married Donald Volz on August 19, 1955 in Wheaton, Ill. In her professional life, Patricia worked as a registered nurse at Swedish Covenant Hospital, as an elementary school nurse for the Lombard, Ill. Elementary School District, and as a Nursing Instructor at Elgin Community College in Elgin, Ill. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Patricia lived her life as a born again believer of Jesus Christ and is now enjoying her heavenly reward with God and all those who preceded her.
Patricia is greatly missed by her husband Donald of Pentwater, her son Howard and wife Elaine of Spring, Texas; her son-in-law Robert DePuy and wife Susan of Rock Island, Ill.; her granddaughters, Christina (Thure) Johnson, Rebekah (Derek) Clark, Courtney (Keith) Hodgson, Rachel (Kevin) Perrine, Deborah (Cory) Saylor, and Caitlin Volz; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister Anita (Robert) Swingle of Hudsonville; her brothers, Frank (Jackie) Pullen of San Jacinto, Cali., and Kenneth Pullen of Beaumont, Cali.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, C. Leslie and Clara Pullen; her brother Gordon Pullen; her daughter Cynthia DePuy; and her great-granddaughter Addison Hodgson.
A memorial service will be held for Patricia at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 25 at First Baptist Church in Pentwater, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Patricia’s life.
